Common Errors & Fixes
Playing massive retro games directly in your web browser pushes the limits of modern web technology. If you run into issues, try these common fixes:
1. Game crashes or says "Out of Memory"
The Fix: WebAssembly games require large chunks of contiguous RAM. Close other heavy background tabs, ensure you are using a 64-bit browser, and completely restart your browser before launching the game.
2. Stuck on a Black Screen or "Loading..." forever
The Fix: Adblockers and strict privacy extensions often block essential game scripts from loading. Try disabling them for this site and performing a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5).
3. Mouse cursor won't lock (can't aim properly)
The Fix: For security reasons, browsers will not capture your mouse until you interact with the page. Simply click anywhere inside the game window to lock the cursor. Press ESC to unlock it.
4. Game is completely silent (No Audio)
The Fix: Browsers block auto-playing audio by default. Similar to the mouse lock, clicking inside the game window gives the browser permission to enable the sound engine.
5. "Connection Refused" or Server Not Found
The Fix: The external game host might be temporarily down, or your internet provider might be blocking peer-to-peer game traffic. Check our Disclaimer page for suggested Free VPNs to bypass this.
6. GTA Vice City says "Please select the game.tar.gz file"
The Fix: The external server has a bug where it downloads the file simply named download. You must open your computer's Downloads folder, right-click the file, rename it to exactly game.tar.gz, and then upload it to the game. (Note: You may need to click 'View' -> 'Show' -> 'File name extensions' at the top of your folder window first if Windows hides extensions).
